Uneventful Monday
It was an uneventful and a boring day altogether. Nothing much happened, not that other days are very interesting but today was worse.
The day started with that boring Monday Morning Meeting, which according to me serves no purpose, it is just a waste of 2 hours. After that the regular small postman work started. Had a meeting with Sameer Dua in the afternoon which was good, he was surprisingly polite and we even had a small discussion over Shantaram :):).
Came back to office and then same old post man work continued, it thought will go for movie tonight but then was too lazy and sleepy to go anywhere so thought will go back home, I know there is nothing interesting to do there also but may be will experiment with food :):)
I have developed this liking for experimenting with food and I am thinking may be am in a wrong business... may what they say is right "Grass is always greener on the other side".
Whole day I was thinking about will I get a week's holiday which I want, I hope I get it ya, I desperately need it. I think will go to Gokarna, lets hope for the best.
One more day in the office has come to an end and am at the same place cursing my life and job. I think I want to do a lot of things but I just don know where to start from and thats why am not working with full concentration.
Everyday I think that from tomorrow I will change my routine and do something fruitful but one more day passes without a change. I am lacking the determination which I badly need and I need to gain it real fast.
AMEN
Cheers

Shantaram Discussion
Finally one topic which caught my attention...
Page 373 Johny Cigar and Lin are sitting near a beach in Mumbai.
The discussion that the had or rather I should say the commentary that Johny Cigar gave was one of the most amazing thoughts that I have ever heard.
He begins by saying that "It is very beautiful isn't it?" (referring to the sea). then when Lin agrees with him he goes on talking about sea.
He says that "Our life probably began inside of the ocean, about four thousand million years ago. Then he says how gradually man started living on earth. But in a way you can say that after leaving the sea, after all those millions of years of living inside sea, we took the sea with us. When a woman makes a baby, she gives it water, inside her body, to grow us. That water inside her body is almost exactly the same as the water of the sea. He goes on and says a lady makes a little sea inside her body and not only this our blood and sweat are noth salty just like th water from the sea and even our tears."
Now this was one hell of a statement, I thought a lot about it and the more I thought the more I found truth in it. It is such a simple thing which I never thought of.
It is such a profound thought about our existence and evolution which I have not seen anyone discussion.
I would love to know what people think about this theory or I must say corollary.
Luv Rajat

Shantaram Continued!!!!!!
Here are few more quotes from Shantaram....
"One of the ironies of courage, and the reason why we prize it so highly, is that we find it easier to be brave for someone else than we do for ourselves alone"
"The Whole world started from an ocean and all os us carry an ocean within us" (Will discuss this one in detail in my next post)
"There is no meanness too spiteful or too cruel when we hate someone for all wrong reasons"
"Love might not have been invented in India but surely was perfected here"
"Mistakes are like bad lovers, the more you learn from them the more you wish they'd never happened"
"Fear dries a man's mouth and hate strangles him, that's why hate has no great literatures, real fear and real hate has no words"
"Every virtuous act has some dark secret in its heart, and every risk we take contains a mystery which can not be resolved"
"The only victory that really counts in prison is SURVIVAL"
to be continued...

Shantaram!!!!!
Finally I have got the book......
It is a huge book and there is just no time to read, but it is really an interesting book so I some how take time while traveling to office and read a few pages everyday. I have never been so slow in reading the book, but just cant help.
I have finished first 400 pages, and till now I am forced to love the book and hate Mumbai. The journey of the author across Mumbai is remarkable but if a lot of thought is given to the book I think it is showing us how the city is dying every day. how it is decaying and shrinking under its own gravity. But I would not comment on that because I have not lived over there and I am not the right person to comment on it and the residents of Mumbai may differ with me.
Talking about the book, I love the optimism of the author. Although I have tried to find happiness in every thing that I do in life but I just can not match this guys nature of finding something interesting and worthy in every situation of life.
I love the examples, quotes and explanations which are given in the book, few of them which I really liked are:
"Dream is the place where wish and fear meet
When wish and fear are the same we call it nightmare"
"There is a difference between honest and dishonest bribe. The dishonest bribe is same everywhere but the honest bribe is India's alone"
"The only force more ruthless and cynical than the business of big politics is politics of big business"
"Civilization is defined by what we forbid, more than what we permit"
"If the fate does not make you laugh then you just don't get the joke"
"Fear and guilt are the dark angles that haunt rich men"
"Size of happiness is inversely proportional to the size of our house".
Will add more to this list as and when I read them. If you have read the book and think there are some which I have missed, please add them.
I would love to discuss these quotes in greater detail.

Start of the Blog
Finally the time has come when I have started blogging, I do not really know if I would be able to continue it with so much work and pressure, but will try my best to keep the diary updated.
I had thought that I would write about Mumbai blasts but I think there is too much already written about it and I do not want to add to misery of people. My be I can at the maximum give a three point suggestion.
1) Mr. Singh should tomorrow get up and make it clear to the the world that we will destroy all the terrorist camps in neighboring countries. If the county agrees to help well and good else force to be used.
2) Every child in the country should be given a years military training.
3) This one is not a very practical one but still, Every Indian should question that if they pay so much tax why are they so much under threat. They should stop paying tax if the situation does not improve.
All three of them are not mine, 2 I had thought of and 1 I heard in a show on NDTV. The gentleman there had suggested these three points.
I do not know how feasible these actions are but they are surely worth giving a try....... AMEN
